Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Located in Griffith Park, this vast zoo is home to nearly 1,400 animals representing over 250 species. The LA Zoo also features beautiful gardens with over 800 plant species from around the world.

Oakland Zoo

This unique zoo is situated on nearly 160 acres in the hills of Oakland and features naturalistic habitats for its animals, including a 2.5-acre African savanna and a 3-acre Australian outback. The Oakland Zoo is also home to the California Trail, a new exhibit that allows visitors to get up close and personal with native California wildlife such as grizzly bears, grey wolves and tule elk.

Situated on 14 acres in William Land Park, this small but mighty zoo is home to over 500 animals representing more than 140 species. Sacramento Zoo is especially well-known for its captive breeding program which has successfully bred and reintroduced several endangered species back into the wild.
